Kinetech Arts Featured Artist Presentations are a monthly showcase for creators, artists, scientists, makers and thinkers to discuss their work and life This month we are proud to present Erica Johnson & Christian Burns. There is a $5 suggested donation.

Erica Johnson is a neuroscientist and educator in the Bay Area. She has worked at institutions such as Berkeley, UCSF, and Stanford addressing these questions: What is the impact of chronic sleep deprivation on adolescents? How do we control a robotic arm using solely our brain waves? Can we detect early signs of dementia with the right cognitive assessment? How does walking in nature affect our brains? Christian Burns has been a Bay Area performer, director and educator for 20 years. His unshakable pursuit for the understanding of the ‘unchoreographed' layer of the dance has driven his broad body of traditional and interdisciplinary dance work. His choreography, improvisations and dance-for-camera works have been commissioned and presented throughout the US, Europe and Asia. He has been awarded the Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange (CHIME, mentor), Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellowship for Choreography, National Choo-San Goh Award for Choreography, Paula Citron Award for Choreography for Camera (Moving Pictures Festival, Toronto, CA) and a McKnight Artist Fellowship for Dancers. He is a faculty member of Alonzo Kings Lines Ballet Training Program, Lines Ballet BFA at Dominican University and the SF Conservatory of Dance where is choreographic project burnsWORK is a Company in Residence.
