elsewhere “a gallery,” is a place where you can take off your coat, relax, look about and stay awhile.
“Our focus is to unfold the rich world of local artists,” says Lake Hanyu, proprietress. “Art has a place in hearts of everyone, and it presents itself in so many ways: as enjoyment, companionship, inspiration, self expression or social statement, to name a few.” Lake’s desire is to inspire deep feelings in viewers. “Such feelings have affected the way I live my life,” she says, “and I think the art works we present at elsewhere will create the same experience for others.”
Most of artworks currently on display at elsewhere "a gallery" were created by people Lake met at College of Marin Art classes instructed by such notable professors as Chester Arnold, Kent Rupp, Rick Hall, Bill Albright and Allan Widenhofer. A few artworks are created by artists who are long time residents of Fairfax area.
