Earth Pigment Workshop with Stella Maria Baer

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join artist Stella Maria Baer for a one day workshop on how to make watercolors from sands and dirt. Sara and Rich Combs (@thejoshuatreehouse) will bring sands from Joshua Tree for us to work with. We'll sift and grind the natural material into refined pigments then learn how to mix the pigment into gum arabic to make watercolors. We'll end the day painting with the watercolors we've made from the Mojave Desert.
No previous experience required, all skill levels welcome. Lunch provided.
Materials wise, we understand that some of you may already have many or all of the necessary tools, while others would rather us supply all the materials. To that end we are including a list of materials; you may choose to bring your own or if you'd like us to get them all for you and have them waiting at The Assembly please add the "supplies" option under tickets in addition to the workshop.
The materials are:

mortar and pestle
sieve and funnel
trowel
watercolor brush size #3
watercolor canteen
watercolor, notebook brown 11 x 14
paper palette
palette knife 35T or 6T
Titanium White watercolor
