The Earth Action Fair 2016 on Sunday, May 22 at Holbrook-Palmer Par has attractions for all ages, which will include a bounce house, arts and crafts along with many other family friendly entertainments including a petting zoo and face painting. There will also be a few chickens on site for those seeking more information about keeping chickens in their yards. As part of our introduction to recycling, children are encouraged to bring their used and broken crayons to be recycled into new crayons for underprivileged children.
A centrepiece of the event is the Atherton2020 Student Environmental Challenge, which features environmental science presentations created by students from our school district competing for awards and special prizes. Our student entrants will display their work on the Main House Patio and prizes include a number of paid student internships offered by some of our Sponsors along with cash and other spot prizes. The community and a panel of experts will judge the presentations during the course of the fair where members of the community will be able to vote for their first choice project, there will be an award ceremony at the Atherton Council Meeting in June. The Menlo-Atherton High School Jazz Bands I and II will perform on the patio near the student presentations showcase, from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm.
