Aura Fischbeck Dance presents the world premiere of Dusk, a dance for the time when the light is fading, coinciding with the company's 10th year anniversary of making original dance performance work in the San Francisco bay area. This new creation for 4 performers considers the reality of the body as it exists in relative states of obscurity and visibility, ambiguity and transformation. Dusk will be performed by Arletta Anderson, Aura Fischbeck, Karla Quintero and Phoenicia Pettyjohn. The dance is designed to be performed in the time of day when the light is fading, beginning before the setting of the sun and moving into darkness. To enhance this effect the Joe Goode Annex as a venue will be transformed by removing the risers and exposing the floor to ceiling windows to let the light in. The windows will become the backdrop for the dance as it is performed in conjunction with the setting of the sun. An original sound score by composer Alex Lough will create an immersive sonic environment which will gradually shift as the light in the space changes. The performances, due to the time of year, will take place at 4:30pm. The dance, sound and unique light of each day will coexist as an experience of transformation from dusk to dark.
