Drugs in the Tenderloin

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Tenderloin Museum brings Robert Zagone’s Drugs in the Tenderloin to the Roxie Theater on January 28th for a one night only special engagement.

Drugs in the Tenderloin played to two sold out shows at the museum, and will now play on the big screen for the first time ever. This film is not available to see any other way, so don’t miss out on your last chance to see it in the foreseeable future. Drugs in the Tenderloin is a documentary shot guerilla style, directed by Robert Zagone in 1966; it captures the Tenderloin as it transformed into a center for young queers and drug users. The film is a chance to catch a rare glimpse of the Tenderloin’s past, and to hear first hand from the people who lived there.

About the Tenderloin Museum:
The new Tenderloin Museum celebrates the rich history of one of San Francisco’s oldest and most unique neighborhoods. The dynamic evening programming has also gained attention for its value to the community. Peter Kane of SF Weekly described the museum as “a vital repository of cultural memory,” and the programming as “already making an indelible mark on the neighborhood's cultural map.” The museum tells the story of the Tenderloin community, past and present.
