Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Free Community Day

SEE EVENT DETAILS
MoAD honors the national observance of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a Day of Service with FREE admission and programs for all ages. Through art, performance, and music, we reflect on protest, creativity, and the power of community - celebrating Dr. King's legacy and the movements his work continues to inspire.

Outside the museum, Prescott Circus Theater brings joyful, high-energy performances sure to delight visitors of all ages. In the MoAD Salon, Mahealani Uchiyama - award-winning dancer, musician, and cultural educator - explores the connections between Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement, and the ongoing fight for Indigenous rights in Hawai'i, culminating in a special tribute performance. Later in the afternoon, the legendary Glide Ensemble lifts our spirits with powerful freedom songs honoring Dr. King's life and message.

Families are invited to participate in a hands-on art activity with Nicole Dixon, along with a gallery scavenger hunt that connects younger visitors to our exhibitions, including UNBOUND: Art, Blackness & the Universe and Continuum: MoAD Over Time. Complete the hunt and receive a prize!

Join us as we come together in community to celebrate one of our nation's greatest leaders - honoring his vision of justice, compassion, and collective action.
