Double Feature

SEE EVENT DETAILS
This SFMOMA collection double feature presents video works that explore time and process. The exhibition includes Mary Lucier's seminal Dawn Burn, 1975, a seven-channel video installation showing seven sunrises over the East River. Damage to the camera tube caused by the intense light of the sun is evident as a “burn” in the video. Also on view are Fire Child, 1971, Fresh Kill, 1972, and Day’s End, 1975, by Gordon Matta-Clark. These short films document three of the artist’s architectural and industrial destructions of the 1970s, the most vital period of this influential Post-Minimalist.
