Mission Dolores Neighbors to Produce History Day at Dolores Park
This Sunday, June 2nd, from 2 to 6pm, the Dolores Park Ambassadors are partnering with the LoveDolores Campaign to showcase Dolores Park History Day. We will have 7 stations setup throughout the park, each with a specific theme:
1) Native Tribes and First Nations
2) The Mission period
3) Jewish Cemeteries - Dolores Park after Gold Rush
4) The great earthquake and Fire, refugees, and rebuilding
5) Social, Cultural, and Political Activism in the Park
6) Dolores Park Renovation
7) Keeping our park clean and enjoyable - LoveDolores
Come learn about the parks original inhabitants, the Ohlone people; hear stories of the 1906 Great Fire and Earthquake and the Golden Fire Hydrant.
The Ambassadors will be there to represent the neighborhood, answer questions and explain historical events (as much as you can). We have assembled a number of great photographs, literature, and materials. This is the second year for History Day at Dolores. Last year was a blast.
The first weekends of Spring have passed without major incidents. We are grateful for the increased activation and engagement of the Rec & Park, the trash cleanup, the park rangers,
SF police and all of you. There is general consensus that we are looking at a significant improvement in the park over last year. Let's keep it up!
Hope to you this Sunday.
