Join us for this special screening of the documentary "Baghdad to The Bay", in partnership with The United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF), as UNAFF kicks off its 21st Annual Film Festival.
"From Baghdad to The Bay" follows the epic journey of Ghazwan Alsharif, an Iraqi refugee and former translator for the US military. After being wrongfully accused of being a double agent and tortured by the US military, he is ostracized from his family and country. The film follows Ghazwan as he struggles to rebuild his life in the San Francisco Bay Area while coming out as an openly gay activist. Director, Erin Palmquist, and Executive Producer, Fances Reid will dicuss the film after the screening.
UNAFF 2018 will screen 60 documentaries for eleven days October 18-28 spotlighting current events from across the globe including Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Mozambique, North Korea, Palestine, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Spain, Syria, UK, Uruguay and the US. The theme for this year's festival is 'Tomorrow?'
