Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), a North Bay leader in conservation science, habitat protection and restoration and nature education.
The Volunteer Open House in June & August is to give potential volunteers the opportunity to learn about Audubon Canyon Ranch’s award-winning 22-week docent training program, meet Audubon Canyon Ranch’s biologists and talk with other docents.
The docent training program begins in September 2014. Topics of the comprehensive high quality training include classes on local birds, wildflowers, mammals, amphibians, spore and seed producing plants, regional plant communities and nature education techniques. Upon graduation, docents visit elementary classrooms and lead small groups of students on trails at the preserve as part of ACR’s Elementary School Environmental Program, which provides nature education to thousands of schoolchildren each year, free of charge.
