Dive Deep: Eric Fischl and the Process of Painting

For its fall exhibition, the San Jose Museum of Art offers a rare opportunity to explore the practice of painting through the work of one of the most influential American painters of our time, Eric Fischl. The art of Eric Fischl is grounded in his understanding the craft of painting, incorporating age-old academic preparatory practices in conjunction with digital photography and Photoshop. Entitled Dive Deep: Eric Fischl and the Process of Painting, this installation features paintings from major public and private collections throughout the United States, and are accompanied by more over a hundred beautiful studies in various media, including drawings, oil sketches, sculptures, digital composites, photographs and prints.
