Therapy Sessions Volume 2 - CD Release Tour
Featuring
DAVE SEAMAN & LUKE CHABLE
DAVE:
35 years old, Taurean with Virgo rising, international DJ, songwriter, obsessive, pragmatic, stubborn, bald, sulky, opinionated, perfectionist, Yorkshire break-dancer, son of a Spiritualist minister, former Mixmag editor, member of Brothers in Rhythm - the award winning producers and re mixers to the pop cognoscenti (Pet Shop Boys, Kylie, Garbage, Pulp and Placebo) and the progressive mafia (Sasha, BT and Way Out West) travel whore, trainer bore, film buff, nothing's ever enough ?If something's worth doing it's worth doing to excess?).
Leed's United devotee, neighbor of Mel B, Billy Corgan look-a-like, Stella McCartney?s birthday DJ, Robbie Williams kebab eating partner, with ?1/2 million ear insurance, co-founder of Stress Records, sometimes lives in New York's East Village, other times in a church next door to a pub.
Therapy Sessions Volume 2 - CD Release Tour:
It’s widely acknowledged that sequels are generally not as good as their predecessors. And having recently watched Oceans 12, I can tell you it’s an assumption not without foundation. There are however, as with most things in life, exceptions to the rule. Take The Godfather for starters, far leaner and confident in it’s second incarnation than it’s slightly flabbier first. The Empire Strikes Back also springs to mind, which in this writers humble opinion out thought, out witted and simply out shone even the bright lights of Star Wars. All of which brings me to my point. This is our sequel. Volume 2 (unless we're doing a George Lucas on your ass and going to follow the Star Wars version of chronology). Yes,we did it. And we're just happy to be here. Actually, that’s a lie. It was always part of our master plan. And not only that, we think the sequel is the equal (natch) of it’s predecessor , probably even superior.
Unsurprisingly I headed back to Melbourne, Australia to find another Therapy minded DJ for our second outing. I’ve made no secret over the years of my love for the city and it’s embarrassing wealth of talent and after Phil K masterfully took care of business on volume 1, it was the next obvious step to ask his production partner in Lo Step and fully fledged master re mixer in his own right, Luke Chable to co pilot Volume 2. It’s a family affair don't you know (sic). He duly obliged. And then some. Luke’s mix encapsulates his youthful energy into 70 minutes of nu skool sleazy acidic slants on old skool breaks and his own brand of thumping melodic progression even tipping a nod and a wink to Bananarama along the way. If that’s not embracing the Balearic spirit then I'm Jose Padilla. Which obviously I'm not. I am however quietly pleased with my own effort too which takes in some good old fashioned solid house, a little fuzzy electro and some trippy prog before hitting it’s stride with a few choice big room anthems. All in the name of progress(ive) you understand.
So, that’s the hard sell over. We'll let you decide for yourself. Beauty is the eye of the beholder and one man’s medicine is another's poison. If you like this compilation, we hope to see you on the accompanying world tour where we hope to bring a little therapy to your doorstep. If you don't like it however, blame Renaissance. They made us do it!
Until next time, love, peace and “Fight Your Mind”.
