Crypto Underground: A Conversation with Ben Bartlett, Berkeley Vice Mayor

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Crypto Underground is very excited to announce that our next speaker will be Ben Bartlett, Berkeley Vice Mayor and City Councilmember. Ben is a 5th generation Berkeley native, environmental lawyer, and respected community leader. Come hear him talk about how Berkley is launching their own cryptocurrency and using blockchain to turn municipal bonds into digital currency to fund projects such as affordable housing efforts! Dylan Jones, Co-Founder of Refereum will moderate the fireside chat.
*Note - this event is taking place on Wednesday! Not our usual Tuesday as Ben has Council meetings on Tuesdays*
Ben Bartlett is Vice Mayor of Berkeley and Candidate for California State Assembly. He’s a big supporter of green tech, sustainability, and Blockchain innovation. Since being elected to the Berkeley City Council in 2016, Ben has passed more than 45 measures including declaring Berkeley a cannabis sanctuary city, job creation during the age of automation, a 1st-in-the-nation plan to house the homeless in prefabricated modular micro-units, and 1st-in-the-nation law divesting from companies involved with Trump’s border wall and banning local police cooperation with ICE. Ben is currently working to unite Government and Blockchain through public finance, programmable currencies, and personal data markets. You can read his whitepaper on “The Smart Path: Solving for Zero Assets” here.
We are thrilled to have Ben share his insight with us about political efforts to use blockchain technology to drive positive social impact. He's making big progress in the political sphere!
In addition to hearing Ben and asking him your questions, all attendees of this event will have an opportunity to make a 30-second announcement about a blockchain-related project you’re working on. You can pitch your upcoming ICO, ask for help, or offer your expertise.
