Theatre Lunatico is currently developing an original new production for their 2019 season. Artistic Director, Tina Taylor, is facilitating a series of workshop rehearsals with Lunatico artists who are immersing themselves in research about the French Resistance during WWII. The creative process centers on actors choosing their own characters based on the real human stories they find personally most compelling. The actors then
present those stories to the group, and develop and improvise around those characters. The script, to be written by Tina Taylor, will be based on the potential meeting points between those characters. To facilitate the development of content, Tina Taylor utilizes dramatic, vocal, and physical improvisation, spontaneous creative writing, discussion, and exploration of historical documents, sounds, and imagery. This is a multi-layered approach, with the central focus on actor-chosen characters. Theatre Lunatico is committed to changing the dynamic between director and actor, and to empower performers to have greater ownership in the creative process. Theatre Lunatico works collectively, and the ensemble is the key to our rehearsal approach and ultimately to the audience's experience of the final performance work.
