Conversations in Color: What does it mean to be progressive in education?

SEE EVENT DETAILS
In many ways, education has become the civil rights issue of the 21st century. No matter what shortages or setbacks befall the school system, communities of color disproportionately feel the impact in any given city or school district. Bold, effective solutions are in short supply; the time is ripe for a progressive approach to fixing the generational problems that have plagued public education in America.
So what does it mean to be progressive in education? The panel and storytelling event explores various perspectives around education--governance, finance, technology, family engagement--through two sides of the same lens on an issue.
We are combining music, food, and fun with a panel headlined by Dr. Vincent Matthews, Superintendent of SFUSD, and a storytelling exposé around school experiences led by Create the Space.
Urban Ed Academy is proudly co-hosting this event with New Leaders Council San Francisco and New Leaders Council Oakland, along with the following partners:

Surge Institute
Black to the Future
100% College Prep
Young Community Developers
Imprint City
Oakland Promise
San Francisco Foundation
Comcast

Looking forward to seeing you there!
