In this 2.5 hour workshop, we'll explore the inking techniques of comic-book art and apply them to life drawing and sketching. We'll create value and texture with ink, experiment with creating focus and depth, play with silhouettes and abstract shapes, and examine the fine details of line weight, shading, and hatching. Your class fee includes a pack of nifty ink-sketching tools and a cute mini sketchbook (a $20 value) to practice in! Depending on the weather and the flow of the class, we may do a little outdoor sketching, so feel free to bring a folding stool. If you need to purchase some additional supplies in advance of the class, they’ll be available at ARCH in the half hour before the class starts. You're welcome to bring your own sketchbook and materials, too; if you have specific inking tools you prefer using, or that you're trying to master, we can talk about them in the workshop as well.
