This is a workshop for complete beginners to coding. We'll sit down together in a group and write some code in JavaScript!
This class is being co-hosted by First Step Coding and Rithm School.
First Step Coding is a 4-week part-time introduction to coding. FSC is a great way to test the waters to see if coding is something you enjoy before fully committing. The program also serves to prepare you for admission into top bootcamps.
Rithm School is a 17-week full-time program designed to turn you into an exceptional developer. Rithm School is known for providing a unique tailored learning experience, which they can manage by keeping up a 4:1 student-teacher ratio.
By the end of this evening, you will be able to:
• Understand the difference between “front-end,”“back-end,” and other common coding terms. • Know the answers to your big questions about coding. • Use variables, if / else statements, and methods to solve problems. • Prove that you, yourself are capable of writing code!
What you need to know/prep beforehand:
• Please plan to arrive on time. • You must be comfortable using a computer. • You do not need any coding experience. • Please bring a laptop with the Chrome browser installed. You can download it here.
