Code for Good Week 2017: Project Showcase and Sprint with SFHTML5
Project #1: Girl Develop It Teaching Materials
Girl Develop It (GDI) is a non-profit organization that provides low-cost web and software development workshops for adult women. All workshop curriculum, hosted at teaching-materials.org, is written by GDI teachers, students, and volunteers, and is entirely open source. Tech used: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Reveal.js
Project #2: Automatic Track Railway Analysis
Keeping the perspective of India, where railways have created a huge impact in our day to day activities. Safety in Indian railways becomes a subject when there is an accident. The review of the train accidents over the last 5 years for which data is available indicates that a large number of the accidents happen because of the derailments and it is also clear that more than 70% of the total accidents happened till date are caused due to Human failure(railway staff or otherwise).
Considering all these facts, we have come up with the solution which uses ultrasonic transducers to detect the cracks in the railway tracks and informs the nearby station master/control room with the location of the crack to send the maintenance crew ASAP. It also sends a warning signal wirelessly to the nearing train driver on that track stating that there is a fault/disturbance on the track ahead and to stop the train slowly. This process of automating the railway track inspection method minimizes the human involvement thus reducing the human error which in turn reduces the percentage of the accidents due to track related problems. The one and only potential customer of our product would be the Indian Railways.

Project #3: The Pluribus Project
High resolution 3D swarm imaging from many inexpensive mobile sensors, stitched together using Reality Capture APIs. The resulting VR file can then be manipulated and edited in a collaborative browser-based application, and ultimately exported to some of the most widely-used 3D file formats.

Project #4: We Vote
We Vote is an interactive, digital voter guide informed by issues you care about and people and organizations you trust. You have a lot of decisions to make when you vote, and political campaigns don't always tell the whole truth. With fake news and misinformation, it's hard to tell which candidate or ballot initiative is on your side. We Vote cuts through the clutter to help you understand what's on your ballot. Our platform aggregates information and opinions across personal networks – so you can help your friends become better voters too. Just as LinkedIn is the place everyone goes to find resumes, We Vote will be where everyone goes to create their personal voter guide. We Vote is nonpartisan and nonprofit, founded and built by volunteers, including engineers from the Code for San Francisco Brigade of Code for America.

if me is an open source, not-for-profit mental health communication app to encourage people to talk about their experiences with loved ones. The project is built and maintained by contributors many backgrounds and skill sets, not just technical folks. Encouraging mental health support in underrepresented communities is important. This year the app was translated to Spanish. The project is currently looking for more translation to Brazilian Portuguese and German. Tech used: Ruby on Rails, Postgresql, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and SCSS.
