Clos Pegase Winery, vineyard of the mythological winged horse Pegasus, is a majestic, neo-Mediterranean temple to wine and art designed by renowned architect Michael Graves. In addition to fine art and wine, it houses a dramatic cave theatre, with stunning acoustics and classical sculptures in illuminated niches, at the end of a grand walk past 20,000 square feet of deep aging caves.
The cave theatre's acoustics are among the finest and most unusual of wine country sites, with rich reverberation even with a full house. To enjoy music here, surrounded by statues that are hundreds of years old, is a sublime artistic experience.
The entire property, both winery and grounds, is decorated with art from owner Jan Shrem's private collection, including many works of great value by famous masters, from the ancients to Henry Moore.
