THE INAUGURAL ANNUAL CLAYTON, CALIFORNIA PRIDE PARADE
Come celebrate LGBTQQIA* Pride with us Saturday, June 25, 10am, on Main Street in downtown Clayton, hosted by Clayton Pride and emceed by former Clayton Mayor CW Wolfe.
Founded in 1857, the City of Clayton is Contra Costa County's best kept secret. Nestled at the base of Mt. Diablo, Clayton offers a wonderful place to live, work, and play for those who cherish small-town living and was recently recognized by Money Magazine as "one of the 100 best places to live in the U.S."
This exciting parade is being sponsored by local businesses including The Concord-Clayton Pioneer newspaper, Chick Boss, Safe At Home Inspection Services, and by the Rainbow Community Center. It will feature live musical performances, drag queens, City and County leaders, and hundreds of other participants.
"Supporting the Clayton Pride Parade is completely consistent with who we are as a city and our motto of 'Do the Right Thing,' which includes the pillar of "Inclusion," said Clayton Mayor Peter Cloven.
Clayton Vice-Mayor Holly Tillman agrees. "It's important for LGBTQ+ youth and families to know they're welcome in Clayton, and I'm proud to serve on the Clayton Pride committee embodying Inclusivity."
The Clayton Pride organization works to create a city where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual plus (LGBTQQIA+) people thrive as healthy and equal members of society through advocating for respect, equity, and justice, and work to build a culturally rich community for members and allies.
"We are proud to support Clayton's first Pride parade and especially of the incredible team of community members planning an engaging and affirming celebration for our community," said Rainbow Community Center Executive Director, Kiku Johnson. "Pride has been inaccessible to our LGBTQI+ community members for the past two years due to the pandemic and visibility, and representation matters. We know that it will be a wonderful and memorable parade."
