Civic Hackathon - Building the First Police Accountability Platform

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Pivotal Labs (see times)
Overview
Raheem Ai works to increase police accountability through designing a chatbot that lets you anonymously track and rate your experience with police officers — positive and negative. An interactive dashboard will tell the story of these accounts, tracking police experiences through stunning data visualization made open to the public. Data will inform political action and policy changes.
This event is in collaboration with Outco(lor), a diversity and inclusion platform specifically designed to provide people of color with job search connections, career services, and a community to share understandings of navigating life in the tech industry.

Task
Raheem Ai is for the community, built by the community. As a result, we're making sure that our platform is built by the people who are most often victims of police brutality and militarization.
We've built a chatbot that requires further iteration and have completed initial design research for the dashboard. During this hackathon, we'll lay the finishing touches to the chatbot as well as design and develop the interactive dashboard MVP.
By Sunday, we will have designed and completed development for the chatbot and the interactive dashboard.

Final Demo + Panel Discussion
On the last day, we'll present our work to a panel of city officials, activists, and law enforcement. The panel will discuss strategies for implementing Raheem Ai and similar police accountability platforms within local government. The panel is open to the public and encourages attendance by the broader Bay Area community.
