For wine lovers seeking a change of scenery from the skyscrapers, posh dining rooms and elaborate cocktail concoctions found in the city, the Russian River Valley Winegrowers (RRVW) announces its City to Valley escape, on April 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The full-day trip brings 35 wine lovers to the heart of the Russian River Valley, where they’ll sip some of the AVA’s most notable vintages and savor some of the local tastes among their newest friends. During a lush transport by chauffeured bus, provided by Beau Wine Tours, guests will learn about the distinguished wine region and its globally loved wines. The all-inclusive $75 ticket includes:
• La Crema Tasting Lounge, situated on the quaint Healdsburg Square pours Russian River wines that thrive in cool climates. Guests will enjoy some lesser-known wines from the winery’s Appellation Series and tour the newly remodeled tasting room.
• C. Donatiello Tasting Room, the newly opened beautiful tasting room located on Healdsburg Square, serves wines that convey the distinct terroirs found in the surrounding vineyards.
• Christopher Creek Winery, boasting a long history of family ownership and production of award winning wines, this stop affords the chance to taste some of the winery’s limited production wines from the old vines, including some of the Russian River’s best Syrah and Petite Sirah.
A delectable lunch at Wurst Sausage Grill in Healdsburg, featuring some of the best artisan sausages and house-made side dishes in town, is also included in the day’s tour.
When purchasing a ticket, each participant will also have an opportunity to purchase a raffle ticket and be entered for the chance to win a pass to the upcoming Passport to Pinot two-day tasting event taking place during Memorial Day weekend. Presented as part of the highly anticipated Pinot Classic, the event features special tasting opportunities from more than 30 Russian River Valley wineries, including yet-to-be-released vintages and barrel tastings. The raffle winner will be announced during the City to Valley tour April 19. For tickets and more information, please see http://rrvw.org/citytovalley/.
