There will be 4 screenings of Cinematic SF at community venues throughout the city of San Francisco, with special appearances by the filmmakers, the films' subjects, and guest speakers and performers

Cinematic SF @ Bayview Opera House on May 11 is one of a series of special presentations of APICCs Cinematic SF film program.

The Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center (APICC) brings the new local film project CINEMATIC SF to the Bayview/Hunters Point district, highlighting the experiences of two young people in San Francisco. The Shoes I Walk In is directed by filmmaker Jimmy Zhang, following high school senior Marjari from Bayview/Hunters Point as well as Mission youth, Alison. Both girls live in San Francisco homes purchased by their grandmothers years ago, while facing challenges at school and at home. The film brings to light the stories of native San Francisco youth and families who struggle to sustain themselves in San Francisco and stay connected to their ancestors.

Cinematic SF @ Bayview Opera House will be preceded by additional local shorts produced by Bay Area Video Coalitions media students. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the filmmakers and representatives from Anti-Eviction Mapping Project about the need for documentation of data and stories concerning displacement and disappearing communities from San Francisco.

Participating Speakers/Artists:
Anti-Eviction Mapping Project
