Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling
A beautifully acted adaptation of Julian Barnes’ Man Booker Prize-winning novel about an elderly divorcé confronting his youthful misbehavior.
Jim Broadbent plays the sweetly organized Anthony Webster, an elderly man who one day is baffled by a letter from the estate of the mother of a former girlfriend. It contains £500 and a letter explaining that a second document is still with his old girlfriend, Veronica Ford. Set both in the early ‘60s and the present, this film examines the mysteries that can hide within the past, and the extent to which we edit and alter even our own memories.
