Christiana Figueres, Chief Negotiator, Paris Climate Accord Josh Freedman, CEO, Six Seconds EQ Network Jeremy Levie, Zen Priest, San Francisco Zen Center Greg Dalton, Founder and Host, Climate One
When Christiana Figueres was herding 196 countries into the historic Paris Climate Accord she tapped a secret source of personal sustainability. After the pact was finished, she told a reporter in Davos that the teachings of Vietnamese Zen Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hahn “literally fell into my lap” when she was going through a deep personal crisis. “This has been a six-year marathon with no rest in between,” she told the Huffington Post. “I just really needed something to buttress me, and I don’t think that I would have had the inner stamina, the depth of optimism, the depth of commitment, the depth of the inspiration if I had not been accompanied by the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh.”
In a conversation with Greg Dalton recorded for the Climate One podcast and radio show, Ms. Figueres will reflect on how mindfulness contributed to realizing the Paris Climate Accord.
This event will be more interactive than our normal event formats. Following the conversation will be a workshop on mindfulness with Josh Freedman and Jeremy Levie. The workshop will include small-group work, discussions on emotional intelligence and a brief guided meditation. Following the workshop, lunch will be served on the rooftop. Everything is included in with the purchase of your ticket.
Location: 110 The Embarcadero, San FranciscoTime: 10:00 a.m. check-in, 10:30 a.m. program and workshop, 1:00 p.m. rooftop lunch
