Become a Children's Walk Guide at San Francisco Botanical Garden and lead tours for school groups throughout the seasons. Children's Walk Guides are an essential part of the San Francisco Botanical Garden, providing an immersive experience for elementary age students from throughout the bay area. More than 95% of students passing through the SF Unified School District attend field trips at the Garden.
Training will take place over nine Tuesdays, Sept. 24-Nov. 19, 9am-12:30pm.
During the training you will learn basic ecology and botany, as well as how to engage children outdoors through an exciting mix of hands-on classroom time, walk observation, and practice. After completing the training, volunteers are asked to lead walks weekly during peak months, or at least 20 walks per year.
No previous horticultural or teaching experience is required, but we do hope you enjoy spending time outside and with children! Participants with more than 2 known absences should wait and apply for a training that will not interfere with their schedule.

If you are commited to attending all 9 sessions and to leading walks for at least 1 year following the training, you can register through Eventbrite or by mailing payment to SFBGS c/o Kendra Hauser, 1199 9th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122.
Please note that the fee for non-members includes membership to San Francisco Botanical Garden Society.
