This year’s theme is “Journey to Justice: Latinxs Leading the Way” to recognize our brave, courageous and fearless Latina trailblazers from 50 years ago during the East L.A. High School (1968) Walkouts or Chicano Blowouts to our present young leaders creating social change.
This will be an inspiring and powerful evening. Through the Chicana Latina Foundation Alumnae we have seen the power of Latinas. The alumnae have stood up to fight against injustices in the legal and healthcare systems, and for the immigrant and refugee communities. They have created organizations and started movements that focus on the rights of immigrant, indigenous people, women, and LGBTQ community, as well as step up to help those who have been affected by the fires in Northern California. This is the caliber of Latinx (or Latina) leaders who have gone through our Leadership Institute year-long program and fulfill Chicana Latina Foundation’s vision to empower the next generation of Latina Social Justice Leaders.
