SEE EVENT DETAILS
Chez Marius in San Francisco to Host Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration

Chez Marius in San Francisco will be celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau, the “first wine” of the harvest season, on Thursday, November 16, by offering an a la carte menu served from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. with an optional pairing of a glass ($9.50) or bottle ($42.00) of Beaujolais Nouveau. There will also be live jazz musical entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a traditional French holiday that celebrates the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau wine. Made from the Gamay grape, this wine is similar to a light bodied Pinot Noir and has fresh, youthful, and fruity flavors that pair perfectly with autumn dishes. By law, it is celebrated on the third Thursday of November every year.

Always available is Chez Marius' signature French bistro cuisine with Provencal influences reflected by such dinner offerings ($11.00 to $33.00) as a warm Blue Cheese Tart; Day Boat Scallops; Foie Gras Terrine; Bouillabaisse; seared Lamb Filet; and braised Osso Bucco. For dessert, diners can enjoy an Apple Tart Tatin and caramelized French Toast. There are options for children and a weekly-changing $23.00 two-course prix fixe "Neighborhood Menu" is also available Tuesday through Thursday. The wine list wine highlights French and California producers with a number of half-bottle options, 14 selections by the glass, plus aperitifs and imported beers.

The restaurant was opened last December by Laurent Legendre who is best known as the proprietor of the popular and critically acclaimed Le P'tit Laurent in Glen Park. Born and raised in Paris, Legendre studied at the internationally renowned École Hôtelière and worked at top Parisian restaurants including La Tour d'Argent, Elysée Lenôtre, L'Arpège, and Amphycles. While on vacation in the United States, he fell in love with San Francisco and decided to make it his home. Since then he has opened Clementine Restaurant in 1998, Bistro Clement in 2001, Bistro St. Germain in 2009, Le P'tit Laurent in 2007 and Sel & Vin in 2011.

The Chez Marius dining room, with seating for 52 including 6 fronting the bar, has an engaging, comfortable old-world feel to it with wood accents, wine display racks, table tops and bar, plus a café au lait, mustard and maroon color scheme, banquettes, stone tile flooring, wall-mounted light fixtures and framed posters, prints and an over-sized mirror. There are also sidewalk cafe-style tables in front of Chez Marius and a dog-friendly garden patio out back with heat lamps, umbrellas, a community table and a fire pit where children can sometimes be found roasting marshmallows.

Chez Marius is located at 4063 24th Street, between Castro and Noe Streets, in San Francisco, California. The restaurant serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday, lunch Wednesday through Friday and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Specific hours of operation, special features and news are available on the restaurant's website, https://www.chezmarius.com. There is a BART station seven blocks away and metered street parking can be an option. Reservations can be made via YelpReservations.com and by calling (415) 757 0947.
