Charles C. Mann is a science journalist and author His book “1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus” won the National Academies Communication Award for best book of the year. As a correspondent for The Atlantic, Science, and Wired, he has covered the intersection of science, technology, and commerce for many newspapers and magazines here and abroad.
