We are celebrating the importance of language and translation in empowering people and saving lives. Dinner, drinks, and networking, all for a great cause. Sponsored by Lionbridge and supported by Localization World, Celebrating the Diversity of Africa will support the wonderful work Translators Without Borders does around the world.
In the four years since its incorporation as a US-based charity, Translators without Borders has risen from near obscurity in the humanitarian field to the leading advocate for translation and language as important tools in development and crisis. The organization translates more than 8 million words a year for humanitarian development, responds immediately to crises using Rapid Response Teams and trains translators in under-resourced languages.
Africa is one of the main areas of focus for TWB and the localtion of TWB's first field office (Nairobi, Kenya). We will celebrate the continent's diversity with traditional African drumming, dancing and some fun. (Colorful dress and enthusiasm encouraged!)
If you believe that Language Matters (Lugha ni muhimu), don't miss this fun event. There will be dinner with wine, dancing, an auction, networking and a cash bar. Tuonane huko! (See you there!)
