The World Champion San Francisco Giants and GLIDE are pleased to announce CELEBRATE50 on Friday, May 24 -- a special tribute night at AT&T Park honoring two beloved San Francisco icons Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani and their 50 years at GLIDE. The special event ticket purchase will include a limited edition Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani bobblehead and a festive VIP pre-game experience in Triples Alley celebrating Williams and Mirikitani with complimentary food and beverages and a private live performance by the GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band.

The evening will also include a pre-game home plate ceremony and the game featuring the World Champion San Francisco Giants and division rivals Colorado Rockies. A portion of the proceeds of the special event ticket sales will be donated to GLIDE’s programs.

2013 marks the 50-year anniversary of Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani’s arrival to GLIDE – an inner city church with just a few dozen congregants. Today, driven by the philosophy of unconditional love and radical inclusivity, GLIDE is not only a world-renown vibrant church boasting 10,000 members, but also one of the Bay Area’s leading social service organizations with nearly 90 programs that meet the needs of the poor and marginalized. From serving 800,000 free meals a year, to proving affordable housing, free or low-cost state-of-the-art healthcare along with dozens of other programs that help the poor, GLIDE is unconditional in its love, support and commitment to the community it serves.

“We are honored to have the World Champion San Francisco Giants as one of GLIDE’s leading community partners,” said GLIDE Founder and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams. “Their unwavering support year after year shows what true champions they are.” “They are true heroes and community leaders in the fight to end poverty and hunger,“ continued GLIDE Founding President Janice Mirikitani.

“Cecil and Janice have been long time friends of the Giants, and we are so proud to support the truly amazing work they do in our community to help those most in need,” said Giants president and CEO Larry Baer.
