The Canine Companions for Independence® South Bay chapter is excited to host the inaugural DogFest Walk 'n Roll, September 21, 2013, at Vasona County Park, a facility of Santa Clara County Parks. Come out and join us as we raise funds and awareness for Canine Companions, an organization that trains highly skilled service dogs for children and adults with disabilities.
Canine Companions is set apart from many other similar organizations in that it provides service dogs free of charge to recipients; however, each one can cost up to $50,000 in training and care. Canine Companions service dogs have put in 634,375 working days in the 38 years since its founding. Support received at events like DogFest Walk 'n Roll make it possible for Canine Companions to continue placing dogs with individuals who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them.
Sign up to walk the 1.5 mile course as a fundraising team, or just come and enjoy a variety of human and canine friendly activities, such as face painting, rally, an agility course, and more, emceed by our special guest, Lissa Kreisler of KBAY. Meet pups in training and service dogs and their human counterparts, too!
