Presented in association with KQED and the Bay Area Reporter
Who will be San Francisco's next mayor? With the untimely passing of Ed Lee, San Francisco will be holding a special election in June. Without an incumbent, the race is wide-open and interest is high.
Horizons wants to ensure that the needs of the LGBTQ population play an essential role in the civic conversation and so, in partnership with KQED and the Bay Area Reporter, is presenting a Candidate Forum focused primarily on neighborhoods and LGBTQ issues (as well as other city-wide concerns). As Harvey Milk once said: "Let's make no mistake about this: The American Dream starts with the neighborhoods. If we wish to rebuild our cities, we must first rebuild our neighborhoods."
The Candidate Forum will be moderated by Scott Shafer, senior political editor and host of "Political Breakdown" on KQED. The event will be taped for broadcast (airing on Wednesday, March 21 at 8 p.m.)
Candidate participation will be based on reaching a threshold of at least 5% in available polling.
