We get excited about many of our awesome events and classes but this week we are offering a very special seminar that we've never quite done before - a vertical comparison tasting of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah from Peay Vineyards! The Peay family has been making gorgeous, cool-climate wines since their quest for undiscovered Sonoma Coast terroir led them to vineyards right beneath the fog line, hard on the coast. These wines have Burgundian elegance and earth, but with the welcome addition of fresh Californian fruit. Balance, elegance, complexity is the name of their game.The inspiration for this seminar came from an event at the Peay farm we attended last year which involved a vertical tasting of Chardonnay dating back to the early 2000's that blew our minds. The graceful aging and aromatic development of the wines was something we thought we had to share with our customers! To up the ante even more, we will have a rare appearance from Winegrower Nick Peay and their elusive winemaker Vanessa Wong who will be giving the seminar. Nick is one of the most talented and passionate viticulturists we've ever met and Vanessa typically flies under the radar but has worked at some institutions you may have heard of such as Peter Michael, Hirsch, and Chateau Lafite Rothschild. The event will take place this Thursday May 9th from 5:30-7pm. This is a very unique opportunity to be able to taste back vintages of these exquisite wines so grab your tickets quickly!
