The Cognitive Science Student Association is pleased to host the sixth annual California Cognitive Science Conference (CCSC) held on Saturday May 3, 2014 at UC Berkeley's Stanley Hall. The theme for CCSC 2014 is “Creativity: The Inspired Mind” and we will be exploring this exciting topic through the lenses of psychology, neuroscience, linguistics, anthropology, computer science, philosophy of mind and more.
The CCSC is an annual all-day symposium bringing together hundreds of students, researchers, and members of the general public from around the world who are passionate about the interdisciplinary field of Cognitive Science. We feature focus talks given by prominent scientists and thinkers from a wide variety of disciplines. Our acclaimed poster session provides undergraduates with the opportunity to present their own original research alongside graduate students and professional researchers. The CCSC concludes with an interdisciplinary panel discussion designed to encourage exchange among leaders in Cognitive Science, during which panelists and attendees are encouraged to synthesize the information presented that day, discuss conclusions with each other and collectively explore future directions for research. While still in its infancy, the conference has now grown to attract international collaboration, national media recognition and annual visits from both start ups and industry giants.
The California Cognitive Science Conference is held at the University of California, Berkeley. UC Berkeley is a leading public research university nestled in the north of Silicon Valley—just a stone's throw from San Francisco.
There's always something to do in Berkeley! Once the backdrop of the famous Free Speech Movement, Berkeley is now a rich cultural hub with artsy shopping districts, museums and restaurants. For more information, check out the Frommer's Guide to Berkeley. Must-see attractions include the Lawrence Hall of Science and the Berkeley Art Museum.
We provide professionally catered breakfast, lunch and snacks on the day of the conference.
Berkeley is also just a short drive or BART ride from San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area. CSSA members will be happy to recommend attractions and activities after you arrive. Please contact us if you have any questions!
UC Berkeley is accessible from both the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), as well as the Oakland International Airport (OAK). The closest station to the conference is Downtown Berkeley.
