The Saratoga Historical Foundation presents a free lecture on January 21 entitled, “California Apricots—The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley.â€. The free lecture will take place at 7:30 PM and will be given by Robin Chapman at the Immanuel Lutheran Reception hall at 14103 Saratoga Avenue in Saratoga.
Chapman traces the history of the apricot and neatly ties it with the time period when the Silicon Valley was the leading apricot producer in the world and known as the Valley of Hearts Delight. Stories and local photographs of the orchards are woven into the narrative. Chapman’s book can be purchased after the event and she will autograph all copies.
