Inspired by our motto, "Because People Matter," this year we are honored to partner with Life Learning Academy (LLA), a San Francisco Unified School District charter high school founded in 1998 by the Delancey Street Foundation dedicated to serving the Bay Area’s most disconnected teens.
Since our inception as a firm 30 years ago, community involvement has been central to BPM’s mission. Through our school partnership programs, which includes our reading program, we mentor over 200 students each year throughout the greater Bay Area. From Santa Rosa to San Jose, our associates read to students, partner with student pen pals, judge drawing and essay contests, and make presentations at school assemblies. Representatives from our partner schools will be in attendance and acknowledged for their work.
LLA is committed to creating a nonviolent community for students who have not been successful in traditional school settings. For nearly two decades, LLA has welcomed students into an 'extended family' that motivates everyone to give and receive support, develop responsibility and judgment, and build the academic, vocational and social skills necessary to be successful.
LLA's newest initiative, LLABUILD is committed to disrupting the cycle of poverty through stable housing, award-winning academics, and workforce development for underserved teens who are committed to constructing successful lives. The core of the LLABUILD initiative is the development of the first-of-its-kind public, no-fee boarding academy in the country for underserved teens facing unsafe and unstable housing. LLA is in the process of raising $3.5M to build a residential home for 20 students on its Treasure Island campus. To learn more, please visit llabuild.org.
