Join our Bookworms Book Club the third Friday of every month for author readings, pizza, and other fun activities! Come June 15th at 6:00 PM when author Kelly Yang shares her spunky heroine Mia in Front Desk, a timely novel about immigration and community.
ABOUT THE BOOK:10-year-old Mia Tang manages the front desk of the Calivista Motel where her parents clean the rooms. She’s proud of her job and treats the guests like family. But when one of the guests gets in trouble with the police and her parents hide immigrants in the empty rooms at night, Mia can't help but worrry what will happen if the motel owner finds out.
To RSVP:There’s a $5 deposit to RSVP. If the child attends, the $5 will come back to them in the form of a store gift certificate. If they’re not able to attend or RSVP in advance, the money will be donated to Children's Book Project, a foundation that builds literacy by providing free books to children.
