Books on the Garden: A-Z! National Parks and Golden Gate with Gus D'Angelo and Marta Lindsey
Join us on Saturday, August 27th at 10am when we are joined by children's book authors Gus D'Angelo and Marta Lindsey to celebrate their books National Park A-Z: Adevnture from Acadia to Zion and Golden Gate Park, An A-Z Adventure! We will have story time from both authors, and explore our treasured natural world and parks through coloring sheets, mad libs, and a scavenger hunt!

Location: Great Meadow
Ages: 0-6, whole family is welcome!
This is a free event (minus admission to the Garden for non-SF residents), but please RSVP at the link ABOVE
Copies of National Parks A-Z and Golden Gate Park: An A-Z Advenutre will be available for purchase.
Please bring blankets or chairs for sitting on the grass. Please be mindful of high chairs blocking others' view.
About National Parks A-Z: Adventure from Acadia to Zion!
National Parks A to Z captures the emotion and spirit of our national parks, using a layered approach that will appeal to young readers of any age. Each letter of the alphabet features a national park, an animal native to that park, and an outdoor activity associated with the park. From An Avocet Awakes at Acadia to A Zebra-Tailed Lizard Zonks Out at Zion, the reader travels from park to park, experiencing the landscapes, wildlife, history, and activities that make each park unique.
Informative sidebars explore deeper topics inspired by interviews with National Park Service rangers, Tribal Nation members, accessibility activists, field scientists, and visitors. This book shares their answers to a key question: What would you want to say to kids and other visitors about this park?

Step into art, science, nature, and culture by visiting the park's major attractions, like the serene Japanese Tea Garden; discovering secret destinations, like the magical fairy doors hidden in trees; or just relaxing on the green meadows where the bison roam. Included also at the back of the book is a colorfully illustrated map with extra trivia and details on the park's favorite sights.

About the Authors
Gus D'Angelo first fell in love with the outdoors as a child, hiking, fishing, and snowshoeing with his three brothers on his family's farm in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. These early adventures led to his passion for public lands and his hope that all young people get to experience the thrill, mystery, and solitude of the outdoors. Author of San Francisco ABCs and New York ABCs, Gus is an illustrator and animator who now lives in San Francisco with his partner, filmmaker Jennifer Kroot.
Marta Lindsey is a writer and park lover. She lives in San Francisco with her family, just one block from Golden Gate Park. Marta's other favorite park is Point Reyes National Seashore, which inspired her first children's book.

On the last Saturday of every month, a different literary event will take place at the SFBG with a wide variety of topics, always coinciding with and honoring nature, botanicals, and our beautiful garden setting.
