To mark the publication of his new book First Floor Volume 1, a collection of the most thought-provoking pieces from his weekly First Floor newsletter, electronic music journalist and Bay Area native Shawn Reynaldo is taking part in a series of conversations hosted by DJs and producers.
Shawn first found his way into the rave scene during the late '90s, but he's spent decades immersed in independent music culture, logging countless hours running labels, throwing parties and hosting radio shows. (He was also one of the driving forces behind San Francisco's famed ICEE HOT parties, which ran for many years at Public Works.) However, it's his work as a music journalist that has made him one of electronic music's most prominent voices; aside from First Floor, Shawn was formerly an editor at Red Bull Music Academy and XLR8R and has also contributed to such publications as Pitchfork, NPR, SPIN, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, Bandcamp Daily and Beatportal.
For this event, he'll be speaking with San Francisco artist Christina Chatfield, and signed copies of the book will be available for sale.
