Endangered Species, Enduring Values -- An Anthology of San Francisco Area Writers and Artists of Color book launch and creative showcase takes place from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, April 8 in the Koret Auditorium, San Francisco Main Library. The book launch event will be followed by a 3-4 p.m. reception in the Latino/Hispanic Community Room at the San Francisco Main Library.
Prose, poetry, and artwork by more than 70 established and emerging writers and artists of color including SF Poet Laureate Kim Shuck, Fire Commission Francée Covington, artist/curator Rene Yañez and physicians, educators, union workers, activists working on issues from immigrant rights to LGBT, mental health, housing, and other concerns.
Contributors have roots in Native America. Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and elsewhere.
Endangered Species, Enduring Values is a guide to the real San Francisco, the seldom heard 58 percent that are people of color. This book is edited by Shizue Seigel and has received support from the San Francisco Art Commission.
