Body Awareness Through Yoga

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The purpose of yoga is to help the mind find stillness.  However, if you’ve ever tried to calm yourself in a stressful situation, you know how hard it can be to settle the mind.  Emotional intelligence and self-regulation can be a challenge especially if you’re working in a role where logical thinking is highly valued.
This workshop is designed to help you develop body awareness so you can bring your intelligence to bear on what you’re feeling.  By developing this skill, you’ll be better able to handle stressful situations with ease.  With more body awareness, you can recognize physiological states more quickly to take effective action.
The workshop will include:
·       Beginner-friendly yoga postures
·       Business Casual Yoga that you can do in a conference room at work
·       Methods you can follow to guide your mind to being more relaxed and calm
·       Tips on tech tools you can use to continue practicing mindfulness at home
This workshop will involve physical movement so please wear clothes you can move in.  It’s a judgment-free zone, so sweatpants and T-shirts are fine.  Show up however you feel most comfortable!

About the Teacher
Katharine Bierce is a yoga teacher, long-time meditator and technology marketer. She translates between geek and English, logic and feeling, and enjoys helping people who think hard for a living to enjoy being in their bodies. She draws on her experience in technology marketing, yoga teaching and nearly 5 years of almost daily meditation practice to convey complex concepts and hard-to-communicate feelings simply and concretely. You'll walk away from her workshop with new mental models for how to relate to your emotions beings - and find ways to relax more effectively.
