WHAT:Comedians Bill Burr, Jeff Ross and friends will perform at the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s Stand Up for Heroes (SUFH) benefit, honoring post-9/11 impacted veterans, service members and their families while raising funds for programs that serve them. Traditionally one of New York’s most anticipated nights of hope, healing and laughter, this fundraiser is set to make its West Coast debut in San Francisco on May 17 at The Masonic.
In addition to live musical and comedic performances, guests will enjoy inspirational moments recognizing the honorable men and women who have served and protected the nation, many of whom will be in attendance for this special evening.
Over the past twelve years, comedians and musicians including, Stephen Colbert, Jim Gaffigan, Ricky Gervais, John Mayer, Seth Meyers, Conan O’Brien, Jerry Seinfeld, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Stewart, Ray Romano, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Robin Williams have performed at Stand Up for Heroes, recognizing service members and raising more than $45 million for the foundation. Those funds have enabled the BWF to fulfill its mission to find, fund and shape programs through 370 grants that have ultimately reached more than 2.5 million veterans, service members and their families.
WHY:The Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF) was founded in 2006 after ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff was hit by a roadside bomb while covering the war in Iraq. Since then, the foundation has led an enduring call to action for people to “stand up for heroes” and meet the emerging and long term-needs of today’s veterans.
The foundation’s biggest fundraiser, the annual Stand Up for Heroes music and comedy event, was created by Bob and Lee Woodruff and New York Comedy Festival founders Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox twelve years ago as a tribute to our nation’s veterans, their families and caregivers.
Since its inception in 2007, the event has raised more than $45 million to create long-lasting, positive outcomes for the nation’s injured veterans, service members and their families. The foundation has invested money raised to find, fund and shape programs that have empowered post-9/11 impacted veterans, service members and their families across the nation.
