The blue oak woodlands on the north side of Shell Ridge provides a tranquil escape from developed Walnut Creek. This area, less traveled than many other parts of the open space, is home to deer, coyote and other wildlife. With luck we may spot some of these animals, as well as emerging native wildflowers that grow in this habitat.
Be sure to bring plenty of water and a snack, and dress in layers. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are recommended. Heavy rain cancels.
Due to COVID-19, we are limiting the hike to 8 participants. All participants must bring a mask and stay 6ft apart. Hand sanitizer will be available at the hike.
