Bloom Shaboom, a Celebration of Art and Nature in SF's Secret Gardens

SEE EVENT DETAILS
On March 19, Family Connections Centers (FCC) will host Bloom Shaboom, a free block party that will welcome hundreds of Bay Area residents and guests. Attendees will receive plants and learn from gardening experts, dance with local musicians, create art with their children and friends, and share food and drinks from local restaurants.

The celebration takes place in the Portola Greenway, a secret San Francisco garden built in partnership with the Portola Neighborhood Association, nestled behind the San Bruno Avenue merchant corridor. Bloom Shaboom will spotlight Family Connections and local family resource centers, the Portola's rich culture, and the neighborhood's history as the city's Garden District.

Staff, volunteers, and partners will facilitate activities including:
* Flora Grubb Gardens will host a plant booth
* Tahona Mercado will offer free mezcal tastings for adults 21+
* Book & Wheel will share the Chispa mobile art gallery
* Rene y Familia and DJ KG will provide live music and DJ sets
* free fruit and snacks will be provided to children
* families can enjoy bubble shows, face painting, and yard games
* beer and wine will be sold in the Greenway
* food will be sold by Taqueria Gonzalez, Rozmary Kitchen, Whack Donuts!, and Hey Neighbor Cafe

Bloom Shaboom and its activities are free to enjoy, with beer/wine and raffle sales that will support FCC's Healthy Connections Initiative. This Initiative works to address the disparities in mental and physical health for low-income families, serving over 500 children in San Francisco with health and nutrition education, cooking classes, exercise and dance activities, and nature-based learning.
