Skyline Community Church at 12540 Skyline Blvd., Oakland, will host the 18th Annual "Blessing of the Animals" on Sun., October 14, 3-4:00 pm, (registration starts at 2:45) This is a special ceremony to honor our animal companions and acknowledge the blessings they bring to our lives. Bring your pets: dogs, cats, chickens, horse, goats, parakeets, fish, etc. (leashed or caged) or a photo of your pet ("In Memoriam" space provided). Refreshments provided for both pets and owners. Ceremony will take place on the plaza in front of the sanctuary, set in a beautiful hillside environment. Afterward, guests are invited to walk with your pet through the unique labyrinth behind the sanctuary.
In the fall all over the world, lively and sacred ceremonies are held to bless our animal companions and honor the blessings they bring us. Churches of all denominations honor beloved pets around the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi (Oct 4) the patron saint of animals and the environment.
