Hello, World!
Welcome to the second event in our monthly Blend Tech Talk Series!
Iain Proctor is a Senior Software Engineer at Uber on the Marketplace Platform team. He'll be giving a talk titled "The Evolving Architecture."
Technical systems are always undergoing adaptation to greater product complexity, load, and size of the engineering organization. This talk will discuss an approach to architecture that takes this reality into account, where speed of evolution is a factor to consider just as much as performance. Case studies will be presented of systems in extreme growth situations taken from Facebook and Uber.
Iain was previously at Facebook where he worked on the PHP compiler project (HPHP/HHVM). For both companies, he was there for the turbulent period of maturation between startup and tech megacorp, when the strain of exponential growth makes itself felt both in the technical problems of scaling and in managing the ballooning headcount.
Please RSVP if you're interested, as we have a limited amount of seating and space available. Also feel free to invite friends, family, etc. by sharing this link. :)

How do I get into the building?
Our building, 100 Montgomery, closes to the public at 6pm. We'll have some Blend friends in the lobby letting you in and badging you up to the 25th floor. When you get to the 25th floor, walk on over to reception and we'll have folks checking you in. You'll also need to sign an NDA in order to enter our office.
What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?
Public transit or Lyft is the way to go. We're located right next to Montgomery BART and are very close to a variety of bus lines on Market St.Â
