Black Magic Disko feat. Dance Spirit, QZEN and Jeniluv + We Are Monsters

SEE EVENT DETAILS
s it that time already? Another Black Magic Disko? No not yet. But it will be before you know it... This time Bob and Trev aka Bob Campbell thought it would be a good idea to bring some up and comers to SF. LA has been a hot spot for fresh talent recently, and we know everyone likes these guys, so we invited Dance Spirit to come through the Diskotech. These guys have been on fire with releases on Mr. C's label Superfreq as well as on Culprit out of their home town Los Angeles. Pairing up nicely with them we thought Jeniluv, who throws the infamous LA party Making Shapes, would be a perfect compliment. On top of all this we caught wind of QZEN being back in the states. She is good friends with Jeni and is an insanely talented DJ. You've heard her voice on the 40 thieves hit "don't turn it off" as well as on "psylica" by local talent Dave Aju. So much good music packed into one night. This trio, along with the monsters in the back room, will be providing plenty of good vibes and amazing tunes.

Come early for drink specials and stay late for the dope beats to step to...

QZEN (Klasse | Circus Company | Berlin)

Born and raised in California, Qzen is an electronic music producer, singer, and DJ. She has a sincere love for music that’s emotive, sophisticated, bass conscious, and tends to both one’s body and mind. Her sets span the genres of house and bass music, dipping into breakbeat and techno, though she really doesn’t care about what it’s called; if it’s good, she’ll play it.

Qzen’s been DJing fifteen years — everywhere from Mexico to Belgium, clubs to kitchen counters, Decibel Festival to Low End Theory — and has performed live at renowned festival MUTEK in both Buenos Aires and Montreal and at GAFFTA in San Francisco. You may know her voice from John Tejada’s classic “Sweat (On The Walls)” or the 40 Thieves heater “Don’t Turn It Off,” both of whom she worked with on several additional releases. In 2011, she released a track with Sacha Robotti on Klasse Recordings, and 2012 saw the release of her vocal collaboration with Guillaume & the Coutu-Dumonts on Oslo. In 2013, she released a remix on techno label Thoughtless and a vocal collaboration with Never Knows on his Untitled & After. 2014 brought guest vocals on Dave Aju's "Psylica" on Circus Company, as well as James What & Dan Berkson's "Worship" on their new imprint Modelmaker.

She currently lives in Berlin where she continues to work on collaborative projects and original music. Her favorite thing remains moving audiences through the art of DJing.

Jeniluv (Making Shapes | Los Angeles)

Jeni Erickson started playing records in Los Angeles in 1996 after becoming inspired by dj's Doc Martin, Iz, Jeno, Harvey & Solar. Heard playing through the dark & sweaty underground parties of San Francisco, known for blurring the boundaries of dance music genres on the dancefloor she also threw successful club & underground parties in the city for ten years. Jeni made the move back home to Los Angeles in 2007. Currently making waves in Los Angeles with her new party "Making Shapes" and operating a monthly residency every second Friday at Pattern Bar in downtown LA with Heidi and Christine rene. Jeni has a soundcloud that currently plays host to The Rainbow Death Pony show, which rides again in LA after 4 years of silence from when it was on West Add Radio, SF.
