Press Conference
Hosted by Wealth and Disparities in the Black Community -- Founder, Phelicia Jones
Steps of San Francisco City Hall (Polk St side)
Friday, June 26
11am-1pm
(Social distancing measures in place - wear a face covering)
Black San Franciscans need and deserve effective action in Justice reform at this critical time -
1. De-fund the police - fund critical needs in the Black community;
2. DOJ reforms - SFPD, state of California and City of SF have agreed to the federally defined reform measures - and they are still not done, not 1/3 complete. They MUST be completed;
3. The SF Police Officers Association (SF POA) has a long and sordid history of attacking the Black community and Justice efforts. We do not acknowledge any truth or sincerity in their current commitment to reform. We demand the POA be held to account and that they publicly comment on their history and culture of racism and attacks on the Black community.
We demand true, lasting change for Black lives in San Francisco.
